SCFM DELIVERS RESULTS
OUTCOME:
• Saved customer over $2M in equipment costs
• Saved customer 10% on Hp
The Customer Situation:
• There were two units required for a total of 11,000 hp
• Compressor Manufacturer’s solution was 7” stroke 6 throw reciprocating compressor at 900 rpm
Challenges:
• Envelope of operation was extensive and complicated
• Multiple services on each compressor operation
The SCFM Solution:
• Used a 1200 rpm unit with a 5.5” stroke to lower the upfront costs of the equipment for our customer
• Piston speed would remain roughly the same
• Used pipeline cylinders in the storage performance by using two stages, which gained efficiency in both storage and transmission
The Results:
• Reduced major equipment costs alone approximately $2,000,000 over the industry standard unit
• Got the performance done in a much smaller footprint unit. 7” stroke vs. 5.5” stroke machine
• The estimated reduction in construction costs was 15%
• The hp required averaged 10% less than the Compressor manufacturer’s recommended performance for the same flow rate. Cost savings at $0.04 per KWH would be roughly $300,000 per year for the life of the equipment.
